What Are Progressive Lenses?

What Are Progressive Lenses?

Progressive Lenses, also known as Multifocals and sometimes referred to as “No Line Bifocals”, are lenses that allow the user to have 3 corrective powers in one lens, without the hard line of traditional bifocals or trifocals.
Because of the fact that the lens must smoothly transition to the next power without a hard line, the progressive lenses will always have areas of distortion (or blind spots) on the sides of the lens, as the picture shows.

What Are Beginners Progressives?

Since the invention of progressive lenses, some people have found it difficult to adapt to normal progressive lenses, as it takes time to adjust to a new way of moving your eye and head while wearing the glasses. Many people get frustrated, and give up on progressives for good.
We recognised the need for an easier way to adapt to progressive use, so we offer our Easy Adapt Beginners Progressives. These Lenses provide wider viewing areas for the near and intermediate zones, while still allowing for a generous distance zone, as seen below. This helps our customers to adapt to the use of progressives with less frustration.

Our Beginners Progressive Technology

Should I Use Beginners Progressives?

Beginners progressives are a good tool for people who are having trouble adjusting to the use of progressive lenses. That being said, they do pull back on the strength of the prescription slightly in order to provide wider viewing areas. If you feel that this is a good trade-off, Beginners Progressives may be a good idea for you.
If you have a very strong prescription and value the precision of your prescription over the wider viewing areas, one of our other progressive designs may be a better option.

Our Beginners Progressive Technology

We do our best to make sure that each pair of progressive lenses is a great fit for you. Our Beginners Progressives are no exception. We are committed to providing a great product that will help you adjust to progressive use.
